WAIT, WHAT IS THIS?

This is a conference for ambitious feminists who want to do their own thing, effectively and with verve. For some of us, that means becoming CEO. For some of us, that means starting our own business. For most of us, it means doing really amazing work in whatever field we're in, while changing the world a little for the better.

The conference is curated by Bullish, an organization that provides badass business and career advice to (mostly) women through articles, webinars, and this conference. Visit GetBullish.com for more.

WHO CAN COME TO THIS?

This is a conference intended for career-focused feminists. While most attendees are women in their twenties and thirties, we have a few gentlewomen of more esteemed ages attending (nonbinary people are also welcome). We are an explicitly LGBT-friendly organization. We have also had international attendees from the UK, Canada, Brazil, Panama, Haiti and more!

This is a career conference – a conference about leveling up your career or business, side hustle(s), and life. A conference about taking no B.S. and getting what you want. Fortunately, this is also a conference by and for feminists, who pretty much universally believe that success includes trying to make the world better. For some people that means activism, for some it means philanthropy, for some it means being ready and able to help those around you when sh*t gets bad. We want our attendees, and women and marginalized people in general, to have the resources and freedom to resist, help, and fix things in every way.

 

IS THIS FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO START THEIR OWN BUSINESSES?

Most of our attendees are employees looking to kill it in their careers – while some are freelancers and entrepreneurs, and some are both. We do teach that everyone should think about multiple income streams, and learn entrepreneurial skills just in case – in the course of a decades-long career, there's a good chance you'll want to go out on your own at some point. But this is a conference for attendees across the career spectrum, and we're stronger for it! Ideas about making the workplace more just, bringing people together, getting ahead, presenting yourself and your ideas well, generating revenue, and making epic things happen -- these topics transcend industry. Additionally, we provide multiple tracks to accommodate all these interests.

 

 

ARE THERE ANY SCHOLARSHIPS?

Alas, there are not. We do not provide student discounts or scholarships yet. However, a number of attendees have gotten their employers to pay by pitching the boss on how the conference will make them better employees. Also, many companies already have funds set aside for employees' professional development, or for women's programs. You can't know until you ask! 
 

CAN I SPONSOR A SCHOLARSHIP?

Yes! If you would like to provide a scholarship to someone with financial need (it is also possible to specifically designate a scholarship as being for an attendee of color), please get in touch with us. Bullish can select scholarship attendees. Of course you are also welcome to fund someone you know, mentor, etc., in which case just go right ahead!

CAN I VOLUNTEER?

We here at Bullish are extremely competent! We've got it on lock. While we love ideas and contributions – and your help spreading the word on social media – we do not offer comp tickets to volunteers. One exception – if you're interested in being our photographer in exchange for a conference pass, please get in touch. 
 

IS THERE A CALL FOR SPEAKERS?

We pick most our speakers from previous years' attendees, where we've gotten to know people well. We are especially interested in hearing from diverse speakers. What we are not interested in: life coaches, astrology, "manifesting," woo. Some topics we are interested in: systems and automation, skill development that applies equally well to employees and self-employed types, fighting sexism and other unfairness. We are not interested in topics geared towards entrepreneurs/freelancers and self-promoters only. Our audience includes many women in a variety of career paths. Speakers receive a free pass to the conference. If you want to speak, a great first step is to attend your first year as an attendee. 


 

WHAT ABOUT MEDIA/PRESS PASSES?

We are open to media partnerships with women's and business publications having primarily US-based audiences. We have previously worked with DailyWorth and A Practical Wedding. We cannot offer press passes to freelancers or writers hoping to write about the event after it occurs.

 
 

ARE TICKETS REFUNDABLE IF I CAN'T ATTEND?

There are no refunds. If you are unable to attend, tickets can be transferred to another person. We are also able to transfer the tickets into a scholarship opportunity! We will find a replacement, and you'll be a superstar in someone's eyes.

 

HOW DOES THIS "TRACK" THING WORK?

The tracks are a way of organizing our programming, but you don't need to commit to just one track! We'll take a poll to see which tracks the attendees are most interested in, but this is not binding (its just to get an idea of what size rooms we'll need). During the conference, you can attend any sessions you like! 

 

When is the deadline for the hotel group rate?

The hotel room block expires Aug 31 (it's possible it could fill up before then, though). The group rate is $109/night. After Aug 31, you're welcome to try to book at the hotel at their normal rates (which are still pretty reasonable), or stay elsewhere.
